Mind-reading. i wonder if someone exists on this planet that hasn't thought "what if someone can read my thoughts", if that person is you, then i must congratulate you on your spotless mind and pure spirit, for so few men can make that claim. if, however, you think mind-reading is a terrible thing to be afflicted by or subjected to, then this should answer (hopefully) any doubts you might have on the matter, for better or worse.
To start off. i will not be talking about paranormal telepathy, since i can tell you right here and now (and without conducting any research on it) that it's absolutely impossible. if you think it is, then congratulations, you (or someone) won 1000,000$.
Once that is off the table. we can now discuss the scientific possibility of telepathy. a fair warning, you might not like what i have to say.
You probably already know that your brain produces electrical waves, commonly called "brainwaves"
What you might not know is that there is a whole slew of toys that translate those brainwaves to commands that which they use to do all sorts of cool stuff, but that is not my point, the point is that they actually can detect and make use of said brainwaves...and I'm talking about freaking toys here!
So that basis for technological telepathy is already here, and extensive research by both governments and nosy scientists is being conducted right as we speak.
Not paranoid yet? have you ever read George Orwell's 1984? imagine Big Brother having a mind reading helmet that can read the minds of every single citizen in his beloved country.
Let's just say there wouldn't be much to write about our dear Winston.
Short answer: Inevitable
